Placement Testing
Fees and tuition are not refundable if apprentice drops from or is removed from the program.
Apprentices must attend 157 hours of classroom study per year, and must complete required 'On The Job' hours
The program is not responsible for employment of apprentices, and is not a hiring hall
The program is provided to contractors and apprentices to improve the quality and skills of plumbers for the people
and businesses in the San Diego area.
The recruitment,selection, employment and training of Apprentices during their apprenticeship, shall be without
discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. The PHCC of San Diego Apprenticeship Training
Program is encourages gender equity in student selection of courses and/or programs, career choices, and personal
decisions. The Sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in Apprenticeship and will operate
Apprenticeship program as required under Title 29, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 30, as amended in the following
legislation: Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972, Section 504
of the rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Education Code of the State of California

- Applicants must be currently working for a licenced contractor
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent when school year begins
- Applicants must pass an Entrance Exam
- Applicants must pass an oral interview
- A $25.00 Exam fee is required (waived for PHCC of San Diego Members)
- A $85.00 Registration fee is required
Placement Testing
- Apprentices with experience and knowledge of the industry may want to take a placement test. We allow
applicants with a minimum of two years experience to test into Year 2 of the program. This test covers
curriculum year 1 students have proven competency and knowledge.
- Tuition is $1,600.00 per year or $160.00 per month for PHCC of San Diego Members
- Tuition is $1,800.00 per year or $180.00 per month for non-members
- 10% Discount if paid in full in advance
